Are Reusable Plastic Event Cups Replacing Disposable Plastic Cups Quickly Enough in the 2020’s?

Are Reusable Plastic Event Cups Replacing Disposable Plastic Cups Quickly Enough

The team here at Event Cup Solutions are huge advocates of reusable plastic event cups and glasses for festivals and large scale occasions.  However, if – as event organisers – you have to use single use disposable plastic cups, then we can also help you with this. And by the way, did you know that we also now offer reusable food-to-go containers as part of our complete reusable solution?

Reusable plastic event cups provide a solution

This is because there are certain events at certain venues which dictate that disposable plastic glasses have to be used for health and safety reasons (why not check out this BBC article about event safety & management for more info).  This is nothing new – almost any large scale event will require the user of non-glass.  However, these specific events in question will require that the plastic cups and glasses are lightweight and ‘flimsy’ enough to flatten when stepped on at a concert, for example.

At the same time, there is the affordability.  Forget the issue of H&S for one moment and look at the financials.  Disposable cups and glasses represent the cheapest option for event professionals at the moment – at least, that what you think.  Wait until the plastics tax comes into force pre-2022 and let’s check this again.

But how about if we could demonstrate to you that reusable plastic event cups can also turn your disposable cups cost negative into a profit generating scheme.  Too good to be true?  Well, it’s not – we’ll be happy to talk you through this as part of our initial consultation with you.

Polycarbonate plastic reusable cups in a range of styles

One of the great things about reusable polycarbonate cups is that they are strong and are the closest plastic relative to glass in terms of touch and look.  The other feature is that they are almost unbreakable.  Stand on it and it’s unlikely to give way.

Certain venues, therefore, would consider that disposable plastic pints and half pints are a safer option.   Do bear in mind, of course, that even if you are buying single use disposable plastic glasses, then you can still minimise the environmental impact of these to a certain degree.

For example, our disposable pints and half pints are made in rPET which means they are made from recycled consumer waste such as soda bottles for instance, and so the ‘raw’ ingredients for these plastic glasses is recycled in the first place.  And secondly, you can ensure that the operational efficiency of your venue is as tight as possible.

By this, we mean that although our ‘Go-Green’ disposable pints and half pints are 100% recyclable, it would be very easy for these to get mixed in with other waste at the end of your event and end up in landfill.  Therefore, why not position designated bins around your venue and at the exit points into which your guests can pop their plastic glass when they have finished with it.
